The US Russia Center for Entrepreneurship and Svoi Business magazine hosted the Moscow Entrepreneurship Group on March 3, 2006. The topic of the event was: Success Through Franchising. Panel speakers included Franchisor– Boris Krupkin, finder and co-owner, Chainaya Lozhka (St. Petersburg), Franchisee –Alexander Birulin, Partner, MedOK, (Invitro franchisee), and Valery Perkov, General Manager, Russian Association of Franchising.

The General Director of airline UTair has been named the national winner of the international competition Entrepreneur of Year, 2005 organized by Ernst and Young.
Andrey Martirosov, having headed airline UTair since 1999, has brought back the enterprise from bankruptcy and has transformed it into an industry leader. In 2006, the company plans to earn 400 million rubles net profit, four times more than the 2005 figure. In June 2006, Mr. Martikrosov will represent at the international Entrepreneur of the Year competition in Monte-Carlo.
Other winners of the Entrepreneur of the Year competition in Russia were the General Director, Sibirsky Bereg, Alexander Ladan; Chairman of Board of Directors, Euroset, Evgeny Chichvarkin; General Director, Continent Express, Stanislav Kostiashkin; General Director, MAGRAM Market Research, Marina Malyhina; General Director, Digital Design, Andrey Fedorov; Chairman of Board, NBD-BANK, Alexander Sharonov; President, Global Age, Michael Lifshits; President, The Microfinance Center, Paul Sigal; and the Rector of the St.-Petersburg International Institute of Management, Sergey Mordovin.
